Khanum Nadiya Joya Radio Songs

Singer: Khanum Nadia Joya || خانم نادیا جویا
Recording years: 1978-1982
Recorded at: Radio Television Afghanistan
Language: Pashto and Dari
Genre: Psych, Pop, Folk, Funk

Commentary:A very rare and beautiful bootleg tape featuring songs by the forgotten Female vocalist Khanum Nadia Joya. She was one of the few female singers who performed for Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) when television first arrived in the country. Known for her striking hairstyles, distinctive fashion, and captivating vocals, Khanum Nadia Joya left a lasting impression during her brief career. Sadly, she stopped singing in 1982, but she is reportedly still alive and is said to be the aunt of Afghan singer Farhad Shams. Although her time in the spotlight was short, this bootleg tape preserves the beauty and rarity of her voice, offering a glimpse into a time when female vocalists could freely perform on RTA — something that no longer happens on Afghanistan’s national broadcasters.
